Welcome back watchers for this week’s movie preview for Gran Turismo! I’ve never watched NASCAR or Formula 1 racing as I have never really been drawn to it but have had friends who love the thrill of the race and speed of it. Honestly, I only ever saw it as cars going really fast in a circle for a long time. I never met a fan of the sport until a buddy of mine, Aiden, would wake up early at 4am sometimes to catch the F1 races that were happening over seas. It made me curious to see what all the hype was about and as I looked into through watching Youtube videos and reading articles, I could get how someone can fall in love with it. When Gran Turismo initially came out I sort of just put it off along with Ford vs. Ferrari because like I said I am not that interested in racing or cars so it didn’t appeal to me. Then my mom watched Gran Turismo and highly recommended it so I figured I would give it a shot.
The movie is based on a true story about Jann Mardenborough, a teenage gamer, given a chance to chase his dream of being a race car driver through a contest to the GT Academy. I am excited to watch this because I interested in seeing Orlando Bloom again! Like I asked in a question down below, where has he been?! That and I am a fan of David Harbour not only because of his role as Hopper in Stranger Things but starring in Violent Night (which I might review when Christmas comes around), a funny and refreshing take on R rated Santa basically turning into John Wick killing some bad guys set out to ruin a family’s Christmas. Hopefully you’re just as fired up to watch this movie and give race car driving a chance like me!
To get you geared up for the movie, here are some fun questions to ponder as you watch, and perhaps discuss with friends, family, or even drop a comment on our upcoming review this Monday:
If there was a video game you could be a professional in, what would it be?
Did this movie make you appreciate all the hard work and factors that go into being a professional race car driver?
Where has Orlando Bloom been all this time? (I haven’t seen him in anything since Pirates of the Caribbean movies. )
So grab your popcorn, get comfy, and dive into Gran Turismo. Happy watching!
