As punishment, they are forced to escort a pair of socialites (Anne Dudek, Rochelle Aytes) to the Hamptons, where they're going to be used as bait for a kidnapper. But when the girls realize the FBI's plan, they refuse to go. Left without options, Marcus and Kevin decide to pose as the sisters, transforming themselves from African-American men into a pair of blonde, white women.
We’re back this week with a throwback selection that’s sure to stir up some laughs and perhaps a bit of nostalgia: the 2004 comedy White Chicks. A standout in its time, this film pushed boundaries with its bold premise—two Black men masquerading as white women—and it’s hard to imagine a concept like this getting the green light today. This might be why we’re seeing fewer comedies that really push the envelope.
White Chicks isn’t just any comedy; it’s directed by and stars the incredibly talented Wayans family, a dynasty that’s arguably one of the top five in entertainment. Spanning multiple generations, the Wayans have given us iconic shows and films like The Wayans Bros., In Living Color, Scary Movie, My Wife & Kids, and so much more.
I’m eager to see if this movie still delivers the laughs it did back in the day. It’s been years since I last watched it, but catching episodes of The Wayans Bros. on YouTube TV recently reminded me just how funny Marlon and Shawn are—so much so that it inspired me to revisit White Chicks.
If you’re a fan of over-the-top comedies, this is one you won’t want to miss!
To get you in the right mindset, here are a few fun questions to ponder as you watch. Feel free to discuss them with friends, family, or drop a comment on our upcoming review this Monday:
Could a movie like this be made in today’s social climate?
Would you place the Wayans family in the top five most talented entertainment dynasties?
What was your favorite scene?
